Things to Do

There are no less than one trillion things to do in NYC, and nearly as many lists and websites to summarize them. Google it – you'll be completely overwhelmed.

In lieu of linking you to each of these lists (with the exception of the list from our friends at NY Feedonist, because it's legit), below are a few of our top recommendations. In addition, we've included information on a few major events in the city on or around our day of celebration, including details regarding the 4th of July fireworks on the East River.

As always, NYC's calendar of events will be full of fun activities the week/weekend of our wedding celebration. We'll continue to add to this list as new events are announced, but here are a few options we've compiled thus far:

Sports

The New York Yankees will be in town July 2nd through July 8th (Tuesday - Sunday), with a Tuesday-Thursday series against the Cincinnati Reds, and a Friday-Sunday series against the Boston Red Sox. For those unfamiliar, Yankee Stadium is a 30-45 min. subway ride from Midtown Manhattan (45 mins. to 1 hour from some places in Brooklyn), or a slightly longer Uber ride.

The Mets will be out of town from July 1st to July 9th. Sorry, Mets fans.

4th of July Fireworks

The 48th Annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Show will be held on the Hudson River, on the west side of Manhattan (between Manhattan and New Jersey) – UPDATED from a previous version of this site that incorrectly stated fireworks would be on the East River!

The 4th will fall on the Thursday prior to our celebration, so we hope everyone is able to enjoy the festivities! There's no way to 'game the system' when attempting to find a great viewing location – you either find a friend or secure a hotel with a rooftop view of the fireworks, or pay exorbitant amounts of money to attend private parties/viewing events at various locations around the city.

Broadway

The traditional Broadway show schedule runs Tuesday through Sunday (with Sunday evenings and all of Monday off). The best way to find which shows are running and secure tickets is through broadway.com or the TodayTix website or app.
